Libertad vs River Plate prediction

Libertad come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Deportivo Recoleta in their most recent outing at the weekend. The Paraguayans have suffered just two defeats in their last 13 matches across all competitions. They finished second in Group D, though, sitting five points behind Sao Paulo in the late spring.

They face a River Plate side that, under the management of Marcelo Gallardo, were frustrated by their group stage exit at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer. The Argentinians went through the group stages of this competition unbeaten and come into this one on the back of a five-match unbeaten run of form across all competitions.

That run extends to when they were beaten by Internazionale at the FIFA Club World Cup and they do appear to be a cut above the majority of the rest of South America.
