Chicago Fire didn’t need Robert Lewandowski on the scoresheet to be on the winning side in their first game of the Leagues Cup, which saw them brush aside Necaxa by two goals to nil. It was a notable result, Chicago’s first victory against a Liga MX team in 16 years and they stand an excellent chance of making it two in a row. Santos Laguna on the other hand, tasted defeat at the hands of New York City FC, losing by two goals to nil.
After not scoring last time out, Lewandowski will likely be chomping at the bit to get back out onto the field. The superstar Pole should be afforded chances to find the net and it would be a surprise if he were not to take one in an expected Fire victory in Bridgeview.
