Key stats

  • Rennes have won only one of their last 12 Ligue 1 meetings with Lille (D5 L6) – 2-0 away on 3 January 2026.
  • Rennes are winless in seven home Ligue 1 games against Lille (D2 L5) since a 3-1 win on 24 May 2019, and have lost the last two.
  • Lille have won 23 of the 56 Ligue 1 meetings since 1995/96, to Rennes' 13 (D20).
  • Lille's 2-1 win in Rennes on 15 March 2026 is Rennes' most recent home defeat – they are unbeaten in nine home games since (W7 D2) and have won the last four.
  • Rennes are fifth with 16 points coming into Matchweek 10 and have won four of five home games this season (D1), but they have lost their last three away – 0-4 at Lyon, 3-4 at Paris FC and 2-5 at Nice – conceding 13 goals.
  • Rennes' 20 goals are their most after nine games in 32 Ligue 1 seasons since 1995/96 (previous best 18, in 2011/12 and 2020/21), but their 19 conceded is their joint-most at this stage (also 19 in 2005/06).
  • Rennes' matches have averaged 4.33 goals this season, the highest in Ligue 1.
  • Lille are second with 18 points coming into Matchweek 10 and have the best defence in the division, with six goals conceded.
  • Lille have kept five clean sheets, the joint-most in Ligue 1 (with Lorient), and have scored in every league game this season – as have only PSG and Auxerre.
  • Lille's 18 points after nine games has been bettered only four times in 29 Ligue 1 seasons since 1995/96 (19 in 2001/02, 2004/05, 2018/19 and 2020/21).
  • Lille are unbeaten in four (W2 D2) and beat Lens 1-0 last time out on 30 October – their third 1-0 win of the season.
  • Lille won eight consecutive away Ligue 1 games between 22 February and 3 September 2026, but are winless in two on the road since (1-2 at Nice and 1-1 at Monaco).
  • Rennes have won only eight of their 32 Ligue 1 games refereed by Clément Turpin since 2008/09 (D10 L14) – a 25.0% win rate, compared with 38.9% in all their Ligue 1 games since 1995/96 – and are winless in their last five with him (D1 L4).
  • Lille are unbeaten in their last four Ligue 1 games under Turpin (W2 D2), and Rennes are winless in the three Rennes vs Lille meetings he has refereed (D2 L1).

Rennes vs Lille prediction

Coached by Franck Haise, Rennes have improved over the course of the calendar year but they have hit some rough form with three defeats in their last five league matches. They were also held to a frustrating goalless draw by Greek giants Olympiacos in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League in midweek.

Lille, under the management of Davide Ancelotti, begin the match day sitting second in the table and in behind Paris Saint-Germain after a Derby du Nord victory over Lens with a late Olivier Giroud winner last week. That was followed by a goalless draw with Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League the other day.

Performances have dipped as the season has gone on for Lille and perhaps siding with Rennes would be good value given their own blip boosting the odds.

Rennes vs Lille tip: Double chance – Rennes to win or draw
