Crystal Palace VS Liverpool

Crystal Palace remain under pressure as The Eagles welcome a frustrated Liverpool side to Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Sunday.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV & online: UK – Sky Sports & Sky Go / USA – NBC & Peacock

Crystal Palace preview: Struggling Sage

Having been appointed over the summer, former Lens boss Pierre Sage has been under pressure from Crystal Palace supporters for a while now and the Frenchman continues to surely edge closer to the sack after another mixed week.

Edging past Fulham in the EFL Cup and then suffering a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Palace did fight back with ten men to earn a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League in midweek.

Liverpool preview: Frustrated Reds

Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool twice took the lead in Istanbul in midweek, only to succumb to a 3-2 defeat to Turkish giants Fenerbahce in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.

That came a few days after Liverpool had been fairly toothless, albeit with a fair bit of intensity and endeavour in their build-up play, in a 1-0 loss at home to Premier League champions Arsenal at Anfield last weekend.

Crystal Palace team news: Mateta suspended

Sent off early on against Tottenham last week, Jean-Philippe Mateta is now missing through suspension for The Eagles with Jorgen Strand Larsen having timed his return from injury well.

There is another key attacking absentee as Ismaila Sarr has been ruled out until after the international break, joining defensive duo Chadi Riad and Takehiro Tomiyasu on the sidelines.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Richards, Disasi, Canvot; Khalaili, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; McNeill, Pino; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Riad (Injured), Tomiyasu (Injured), Sarr (Injured), Mateta (Suspended)

Questionable:

Liverpool team news: Midfield issues

Ryan Gravenberch was an unused substitute last weekend and then unavailable in midweek due to a heel fracture. Trey Nyoni may well keep his spot in the eleven due to the poor form of Dominik Szoboszlai.

As for other injury issues, there are no fresh absentees with defenders Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong unavailable alongside Hugo Ekitike.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Nyoni; Barcola, Wirtz, Gakpo; Isak

Unavailable: Leoni (Injured), Bradley (Injured), Frimpong (Injured), Ekitike (Injured)

Questionable: Gravenberch (Injured)

Key stats

  • Liverpool have won 21 of their 34 Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace since 1992/93 (W21 D6 L7).
  • Palace's home record against Liverpool is W3 D3 L11, but they won the last meeting at Selhurst Park 2-1 on 27 September 2025 – their first home win in the fixture since 3-1 on 23 November 2014.
  • Palace have won more Premier League games at Anfield (four) than at home (three) against Liverpool.
  • Liverpool's 7-0 win at Selhurst Park on 19 December 2020 is the biggest win in the fixture and its joint-highest-scoring game, along with Liverpool's 6-1 win there on 20 August 1994.
  • Liverpool won the most recent meeting 3-1 at Anfield on 25 April 2026.
  • Palace are 18th coming into Matchweek 10 with seven points (W2 D1 L6) and have lost their last three league games without scoring (0-5 at Brighton, 0-2 vs Newcastle and 0-2 at Tottenham).
  • Palace's 21 goals conceded are the most in the division and their most after nine games in 18 Premier League seasons since 1992/93 – the previous high was 19, in 2013/14 and 2017/18.
  • Palace have lost three of four home league games this season (W1 L3) and have conceded in six straight home league games since 10 May 2026.
  • Liverpool are fifth with 15 points (W4 D3 L2) but lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal in Matchweek 9, having also lost 3-0 at home to Man City on 11 October.
  • Liverpool's away form has been better than their home form: W3 D1 away (seven scored, three conceded) compared with W1 D2 L2 at Anfield.
  • Liverpool have won their last three away league games (2-0 at Ipswich, 1-0 at Bournemouth and 2-1 at Brentford) and have scored in 12 consecutive away league games since 24 January 2026.
  • Liverpool have a 51.3% win rate in Premier League games on a Sunday since 1992/93 (W193 D95 L88); Palace's is 30.2% (W35 D31 L50).
  • Tony Harrington has refereed Liverpool three times in the Premier League, all at Anfield, and they are unbeaten (W2 D1).
  • Palace are W2 D3 L2 in seven Premier League games with Harrington, and unbeaten in the last three.

'Key stats' are Premier League only (not all competitions)

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool prediction

Crystal Palace have managed just one victory, a slender and unconvincing defeat of Fulham in the cup, in their last seven matches across all competitions and three successive defeats in the league mean that they begin the tenth match day of the campaign sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places. Liverpool may well be inconsistent and still experiencing teething issues at what remains the start of the Andoni Iraola era but they should run out fairly comfortable winners down in Croydon.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool tip: Liverpool to win -1 handicap
