Man Utd VS Aston Villa

Manchester United eased the pressure on themselves in midweek with a remarkable victory as they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV & online: UK – Sky Sports & Sky Go / USA – USA Network & Telemundo

Man Utd preview: Dramatic victory

Roma took an early 2-0 lead at Old Trafford and the pressure mounted on Michael Carrick but Manchester United stirred in the second half with a late Matheus Cunha brace giving them a crucial UEFA Champions League victory in midweek.

That ended what was a nine-match winless run of form across all competitions. United supporters will not be too blinded by that victory to suggest things will now turnaround but it has at least provided some respite for the club.

Aston Villa preview: Hammered in Catalonia

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa were poor in midweek as they succumbed to a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Barcelona in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League with Lamine Yamal’s strike followed by a brace from Raphinha.

Having found some excellent form in the previous month or so, the last ten days have now seen Villa exit the EFL Cup with a 3-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth before being pegged back to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Fulham at Villa Park last weekend.

Man Utd team news: Baleba out

Big money summer signing Carlos Baleba arrived at Old Trafford injured and the Cameroon international midfielder is again sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury in midweek.

Lisandro Martinez is missing through suspension after being sent off last week, while Michael Carrick said pre-Roma that Marcus Rashford was a watch to see how he was improving ‘day by day’.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Yoro, Maguire, Heaven, Dalot; Mainoo, Tielemans; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo

Unavailable: Martinez (Suspended), Shaw (Injured), Ugarte (Injured), Baleba (Injured), Sesko (Injured)

Questionable: Dorgu (Fitness), Rashford (Injured)

Aston Villa team news: Cash suspended

Matty Cash is unavailable due to suspension for Villa this weekend after picking up his fifth yellow card last week. Former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is working his way back to full fitness.

In terms of confirmed absentees, summer signing Matteo Ruggeri remains sidelined alongside Amadou Onana, who suffered an ACL injury while with Belgium at FIFA World Cup 2026 over the summer.

Further details will appear here following pre-match press conferences…

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Suzuki; Lindelof, Torres, Mings, Maatsen; Kamara, Gomes; McGinn, Manzambi, Buendia; Jackson

Unavailable: Cash (Suspended), Ruggeri (Injured), Onana (Injured)

Questionable: Wan-Bissaka (Injured)

Man Utd vs Aston Villa prediction

Manchester United have won their last six games against Villa at Old Trafford. It is 14 victories in 1t matches against The Villans at Old Trafford since December 2009. However, this is a United side with a penchant for making unwanted history. Villa could do with a reaction here and they remain the stronger and more cohesive of the two teams – and should still be sided with despite the European drama of Tuesday for the hosts.

Man Utd vs Aston Villa tip: Double chance – Aston Villa to win or draw
