Hamburg preview: Chance to build a cushion
Hamburg will be relieved to return home following consecutive defeats on the road. A narrow 1-0 loss at Paderborn was followed up by Eintracht Frankfurt beating them 3-1 at Deutsche Bank Park. Those two results leave Merlin Polzin’s side just above the dreaded bottom three with only two points separating them from Union Berlin in 16th place.
Shutting down the opposition has proven their biggest weakness, having shipped 19 goals over the course of eight Bundesliga fixtures. Only opponents Borussia Monchengladbach have conceded more however, which offers some light at the end of the tunnel.
Borussia Monchengladbach preview: Revival continues
Borussia Monchengladbach had lost six Bundesliga games in a row to begin the new campaign but have recently shown signs of life. A thrilling victory over Stuttgart was followed up by a point at home to Paderborn and after having been rooted to the bottom of the table, the visitors now have the chance to climb out of the automatic relegation spots.
While Gladbach have conceded more goals than any other club in the Bundesliga, they do boast four more goals scored than Hamburg over the course of the league campaign so far and are obviously in better recent form.

Open poll and resultsHamburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach prediction
Two of the leakiest backlines in the German top flight lock horns and with three points worth their weight in gold for both sides, we could be in for an extremely fun affair at the Volksparkstadion. With home advantage in their favour, Hamburg are expected to go for it from an attacking perspective, while Borussia Monchengladbach will be in confident mood following recent results and should push bodies forwards themselves.
The outcome could go either way, although the visitors have every right to be optimistic with them being in much better form. However, regardless of who comes out on top, it’s worth backing a high volume of goals to be scored between these two.
Hamburg vs Borussia Monchengladbach tip: Over 3.5 goals
