Having now broken into the Bundesliga top five, a win for Werder Bremen against Stuttgart would make it three in a row for Daniel Thioune’s side.

Stuttgart preview: Wasteful midweek

Had Stuttgart taken their chances in midweek, they may well have beaten Galatasaray. Instead, they paid the price and lost 2-0 in Turkiye. It was a frustrating result for Sebastian Hoeness, who will hope his side can respond in the Bundesliga. With a short turnaround between fixtures, though, it will be a big test for a squad that came away with an impressive 2-4 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena last weekend.

That victory was a welcome boost, but Stuttgart still have plenty of work to do domestically. They sit four points adrift of the top six heading into Saturday's games.

Werder Bremen preview: Champions League spot within site

Werder Bremen find themselves within touching distance of the top four following their 2-0 home victory over Hoffenheim. Only goal difference now separates them from fourth-placed RB Leipzig, who also won last weekend.

Key to Werder’s success has been making themselves extremely tough to beat, with Daniel Thioune’s men having lost just one of their eight Bundesliga fixtures so far this campaign. Goals have been just as important, with Werder finding the net two or more times in each of their last five league matches.

Stuttgart team news: Karazor could be out

Stuttgart wait for news on whether Karazor will be passed fit in time to play, whilst they are expected to be without both Stiller and Zagadou.

Werder Bremen team news: No good news

Still all those on the treatment table remain so for Werder Bremen, meaning they are missing several players for the trip to Stuttgart, up to nine in total.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hein; Arthur, Pieper, Friedl, Deman; Reis, Regeer; Dinkci, Chuki, Grull; Fullkrug

Unavailable: Agu (Injured), Alvero (Injured), Erevbenagie (Injured), Musah (Injured), Ndiaye (Injured), Stage (Injured), Stark (Injured), Topp (Injured), Weiser (Injured)

Stuttgart vs Werder Bremen prediction

Werder Bremen must see this as a big opportunity. Stuttgart are coming off a demanding midweek assignment and the hosts could well tire as the game goes on. If Hoeness's side don't find the net early, the visitors should profit.

It's also difficult to ignore Werder's recent glut of goals, which makes them so hard for any opposition to beat. Despite having home advantage, Stuttgart are too inconsistent to back, so the smart play is to use the double chance market and back Werder Bremen to pick up at least a point, if not all three.
