At the Vazgen Sarsgyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan, Ararat-Armenia came from behind to defeat Celje by two goals to one in the first-leg of this UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie. Svit Seslar gave Celje an early lead before goals scored by Artur Serobyan and Franca for the Armenians.
Celje held on to win the Slovenian top-flight last season despite the departure of Albert Riera to Eintracht Frankfurt mid-way through the campaign. The Slovenians also reached the knockout stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League for a second successive season, while Ararat have never made it as far as this in this competition.
