An inconsistent but entertaining AFC Bournemouth side take on an inconsistent but entertaining Tottenham Hotspur team in an unpredictable clash down on the south coast at the Vitality Stadium this week.

Bournemouth Preview: Cherries picking up results

Justin Kluivert became the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick of penalties at the weekend as Andoni Iraola’s entertaining AFC Bournemouth defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers by four goals to two at Molineux as they keep themselves in touching distance of the top seven and the UEFA competition qualification spots.

The Cherries’ 4-2 win at Wolves does highlight their inconsistency, though, as it had come on the back of back-to-back losses against Brentford and Brighton and Hove Albion, which had themselves come off the back of collecting seven points in tough games against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Tottenham Preview: All a bit Spurs-y

Ange Postecoglou has already declared he always wins things in his second season but it won’t be the Premier League title and they were dealt a blow in the UEFA Europa League last week as they were pegged back to a 2-2 draw by Roma in north London to mean they have collected one point from their last two matches in that competition.

As inconsistent as ever, Spurs followed up their famous 4-0 hammering of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium ten days or so ago by being held to a 1-1 draw in a London derby against Fulham at the weekend with Brennan Johnson’s opener being cancelled out by Tom Cairney in the second-half.

Bournemouth Team News: A few injury issues

United States international Tyler Adams has returned from injury recently but Bournemouth are still without a couple of key men across the pitch with Alex Scott a midfielder that is out injured.

Antoine Semenyo has returned from suspension but Scott remains sidelined alongside summer signing Julian Araujo and Colombian attacker Luis Sinisterra due to injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Adams, Christie; Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo; Evanilson

Unavailable: Araujo (Injured), Scott (Injured), Sinisterra (Injured)

Questionable: Cook (Injured)

Tottenham Team News: Defensive issues

Guglielmo Vicario has been sidelined by a fractured ankle that he played with against Manchester City so, for the foreseeable future, Fraser Forster is their number one.

They also have defensive injury issues, too, at the moment as Micky van de Ven remains sidelined for Spurs with fellow centre-back Cristian Romero still a doubt.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Kulusevski, Maddison; Son

Unavailable: Vicario (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Bentancur (Suspended), Moore (Illness), Richarlison (Injured), Odobert (Injured)

Questionable: Romero (Injured), Solanke (Illness)

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Prediction

AFC Bournemouth have beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium with an ability to, with slick and cohesive patterns of play, exploit gaps in the so-called ‘bigger’ sides. Tottenham will know they are capable of scoring or battering anyone, as they have shown, but even losing to anyone. That makes this one quite tough to call but, given those results and their home advantage, siding with the Cherries may well be a good bet for this one.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Tip: Double chance – Bournemouth to win or draw
