The final day can often bring about some brilliant and entertaining dead rubbers but this is perhaps one of the more miserable meaningless games in Premier League history.

Burnley preview: 19th and down
At the end of last month, Burnley parted company with Scott Parker and Michael Jackson was, once again, brought in as interim coach with the Clarets having endured a fairly woeful campaign with limitations in the final third exposed this season.
They have shown some fight this month, though, twice taking the lead in a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Turf Moor before succumbing to a slender 1-0 loss to now champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last week.
Wolves preview: 20th and down
Wolverhampton Wanderers could lift themselves off bottom spot in the Premier League table as they head into the final day of the 2025/26 campaign sitting just two points behind Burnley.
That fairly pathetic achievement for a club the size of Wolves would be fairly surprising, given how poor they have been since the return from the March international break. They did earn a 1-1 draw with Fulham at Molineux last weekend.
Burnley team news: Barnes may not be available
Ashley Barnes is set to depart Burnley once and for all this weekend but, after recently dealing with a muscle injury, the experienced attacker could well be sidelined once again.
They do have some longer-term injury issues such as defensive duo Jordan Beyer and Connor Roberts, as well as defensive midfielder Josh Cullen.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Weiss; Walker, Tuanzebe, Esteve, Pires; Ugochukwu, Florentino; Tchaouna, Ward-Prowse, Anthony; Flemming
Unavailable: Beyer (Injured), Roberts (Fitness), Cullen (Injured)
Questionable: Barnes (Injured)
Wolves team news: No Doherty
In his final pre-match press conference of the campaign, Wolves boss Rob Edwards has confirmed that experienced versatile defender Matty Doherty will once again miss out.
Jose Sa, recently named in the Portugal squad for FIFA World Cup 2026, returned to fitness last week, while fellow goalkeeper Sam Johnstone remains sidelined.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Mosquera, Bueno, Toti; Lima, Andre, J. Gomes, H. Bueno; Mane, Armstrong; Arokodare
Unavailable: Johnstone (Injured), Doherty (Injured), Chiwome (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured)
Questionable: Gonzalez (Injured)
Burnley vs Wolves prediction
Burnley haven’t won since coming from 2-0 down to defeat Crystal Palace in early-March, which is when Wolves most recently won, too, as they defeated Liverpool at Molineux. These two have been awful throughout the campaign with just seven victories and 63 goals scored between them – and a low-scoring clash, regardless of their desire to not finish bottom, is a decent bet for this one in Lancashire.
Burnley vs Wolves tip: Under 2.5 goals
