A couple of years ago, Marcus Rashford was among some big names to be left out of Gareth Southgate’s UEFA EURO 2024 squad as England reached the final in Germany. A tumultuous time of it under the management of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, Rashford spent last season out on loan at Barcelona in La Liga. Rediscovering his ability to post good numbers for goals and assists, the versatile forward, now most prominently a left-winger, remained on the periphery of Barcelona’s absolute best eleven but still starred enough to catch the eye and force his way back into England reckoning. He faces competition from Anthony Gordon, the man who may well have replaced him in Catalonia, for a starting role on the left of England’s attack.
