Another surprise call by Thomas Tuchel was his selection of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence. The likes of Lewis Hall, Luke Shaw and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been overlooked by Tuchel, with the German seemingly searching for two key elements: better one-on-one defending and more versatility. Spence brings both, capable of playing at both left-back and right-back, while also being one of the better one-on-one defenders in England.
