A pillar of the Thomas Tuchel era, Dan Burn is another relatively eye-catching pick by the German. The Newcastle United defender earned his first international call-up in Tuchel’s first camp last March, in the form of his life at the time having helped Newcastle win the EFL Cup with a goal in the final. However, with the likes of Harry Maguire in excellent form at Man Utd and a proven performer for England at major tournaments, it was a surprise to see Burn keep his place in the squad heading into this summer. Tuchel has been key to state that being a ‘good citizen’ has been a major part of his decision-making process and it is believed that Burn falls into that category in and around the squad, not to mention his height which poses a significant advantage when it comes to set pieces.
