Jordan Henderson 

Perhaps the most controversial pick by Thomas Tuchel is that of Brentford midfielder Jordan Henderson. The former Ajax and Liverpool man turns 36 on the day of England’s opening game against Croatia and is heading into what is now his seventh major international tournament, despite having been left out of their UEFA EURO 2024 squad by Gareth Southgate. Henderson’s return to the Premier League with Brentford began well before injuries saw him in and out of the side in the second-half of the campaign. Whilst it has frustrated many supporters that he has found his way back into the England squad, Henderson's vast experience and high standards on and off the pitch cannot be underestimated in what the Three Lions hope will be a long tournament stay.
