Named as vice-captain just a few days out from FIFA World Cup 2026 getting underway, Arsenal’s Declan Rice has enjoyed an extremely impressive campaign. The 27-year-old midfielder has been key for England for a few years now, playing at three major international tournament with two of those ending in The Three Lions reaching the final. Rice was arguably Arsenal’s most important player this season as they ended a 22-year wait for the Premier League title. The former Republic of Ireland international will be key in Thomas Tuchel’s 4-2-3-1 system, likely alongside Elliot Anderson – which should provide Rice with the license to drive forward as he does for Arsenal but wasn’t necessarily able to in previous tournaments as the deepest midfielder.
