Turning 26 during this summer’s tournament, Marc Guehi is a player that plays way beyond his years. An FA Cup-winning captain with Crystal Palace, the former Chelsea man, now of Manchester City, has established himself as a key man in the England starting eleven and one of the leaders of the side. A crucial figure as England reached the final of UEFA EURO 2024, the Abidjan-born centre-back is readying himself for his first ever FIFA World Cup and he will be heavily relied upon by his head coach. Tuchel will know the majority of his starting eleven for their opening game against Croatia and it is testament to Guehi that he is one of the first names on the teamsheet with one of the biggest debates being whether it be John Stones or Ezri Konsa who partners him.
