Surprisingly, despite being named in the preliminary squad, Pau Cubarsi was left out of Spain’s UEFA EURO 2024-winning squad. He went on to win the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris instead and has continued to establish himself as one of the most exciting young defenders in European football. Having overcome some injury issues and a bit of a loss of form, Cubarsi became the leader at the back for Barcelona last season after the departure of Inigo Martinez and he heads into this summer as a likely first-choice starter alongside Aymeric Laporte for Luis de la Fuente’s La Roja.
