The left-back spot for the Spanish national team is very competitive with Barcelona’s Alex Balde among those that have been left out of the squad with Alejandro Grimaldo the main cover for Marc Cucurella. Grimaldo, formerly of Benfica, has gone on to establish himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in Europe while at Bayer Leverkusen. He hit 14 goals across all competitions from left wing-back last season and provides an alternative in style to the more defensively solid Cucurella at left-back for Luis de la Fuente.
