Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has announced his 26-man squad for FIFA World Cup 2026.

European champions Spain head into FIFA World Cup 2026 as favourites among many bookmakers and with a lot of trust in coach Luis de la Fuente - who has made a big call of not selecting any Real Madrid players.

Having fallen behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order at Real Madrid, experienced full-back Dani Carvajal was omitted from their 55-man preliminary squad and that was a sign of things to come for Los Blancos’ Spanish contingent, with the likes of Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia, Dani Ceballos and Gonzalo Garcia having all been left out from the final squad.

Gavi returned to full fitness after an injury-hit couple of years in the second half of this season and the Barcelona man is somewhat of a surprise inclusion in this summer’s squad.

There is also a bit of change up front with UEFA EURO 2024-winning captain Alvaro Morata left out. Borja Iglesias, Mikel Oyarzabal and Ferran Torres will be the ‘number nine’ options for La Roja.

In the middle of the park, Spain are once again the envy of the world with Pedri, who could reasonably lay claim to being one of the world’s best midfielder at the moment, alongside Rodri, who was declared such back in 2024 when he won the Ballon d’Or.

The goalkeeping debate will remain an intense one for the Spaniards with David Raya and Joan Garcia, off the back of extremely impressive title winning-campaigns with Arsenal and Barcelona, moving ahead of Alex Remiro and both piling the pressure on Athletic Club’s shot-stopper Unai Simon.

Although there are some doubts surrounding whether he will be fit in time for Spain's group stage encounters, teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is unsurprisingly among the 26.
