Bournemouth preview: Beaten at the death

Marco Rose has replaced Andoni Iraola in charge of AFC Bournemouth as The Cherries embark upon their first ever season in European competition and they very nearly began their new era with a famous win at the Etihad Stadium.

Up against the much-changed Manchester City, Bournemouth took a first half lead via Marcus Tavernier before late goals scored by defenders Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol gave City a dramatic 2-1 victory on the opening weekend.

Everton preview: Strong start for The Toffees

David Moyes remains in charge of Everton, albeit under a bit of pressure from some Evertonians, and it has been a strong start to the season for The Toffees in both the Premier League and then in the EFL Cup.

Having defeated Crystal Palace by two goals to nil at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last weekend, Everton then hammered Championship side Preston North End by four goals to nil at Deepdale in the second round of the EFL Cup the other day.

Bournemouth vs Everton prediction

Marco Rose does not necessarily play as sophisticated and as aggressive a pressing style as Andoni Iraola but the former Borussia Monchengladbach boss does still maintain a preference for playing with high intensity. Everton will head down to the south coast of England likely to set up to avoid being blown away and hang in the game – perhaps ensuring a low-scoring clash here with Bournemouth still working out how to play on the front foot under Rose.

Bournemouth vs Everton tip: Under 2.5 goals
