Chelsea preview: Neto double

Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 on Saturday, with Pedro Neto helping himself to both goals, and it could have been more had the usually effective front three of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro not been wasteful in front of goal.

It was Chelsea's first Premier League clean sheet of the season and a second successive league win, following the 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, which lifted them to 13 points from seven games.

Tottenham preview: Monkey off their back

Tottenham finally claimed their first Premier League win of the season, beating Coventry 3-1 at home on Monday, with James Maddison scoring, Omar Marmoush netting his first goal for the club and substitute Ben Davies adding a third in stoppage time.

It was a welcome lift for Roberto De Zerbi's side after a difficult start to the season, with Dejan Kulusevski also making his return off the bench from a long injury layoff.

Chelsea team news: Martinez blow

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez required surgery for a fractured jaw after sustaining a blow against Everton, so his replacement in that match – Mike Penders – is likely to deputise for the next month or so.

Chelsea's attack has been in full flow this season but their defence finally keeping a clean sheet will have greatly pleased Marcos Alonso, who is still looking for his ideal setup at the back.

Tottenham showed some fight in beating Coventry but they will face a far tougher test at Stamford Bridge. It is too early to say whether they have turned a corner yet, but the mood in the camp is sure to be improved following that victory and a much-publicised warm-weather training camp in Spain.

The hosts are scoring plenty of goals but are weakened by the loss of Martinez in goal, so we can easily see both teams scoring in this one.
