Atalanta preview: Need to rebuild
Following the departure of Gian Piero Gasperini at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, Atalanta showed signs that they were rocked and were unable to get themselves moving along and improving until the appointment of Raffaele Palladino, following the sacking of Ivan Juric, mid-way through the season.
Palladino has since departed again, though, with Atalanta ending up drifting towards the end of last season and he has been replaced by former Chelsea, Juventus and Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri over the summer.
Sassuolo preview: Entertaining visitors
Sassuolo gained promotion back to Serie A in the 2024-25 campaign and they performed well last season as they finished firmly in the middle-of-the-table, with a view to kicking on and pushing for the European spots this time around.
They have suffered a bit of a blow to their squad this summer with the departure of Tarek Muharemovic to Leeds United. They have been able to bring in the likes of Vasilije Adzic and Kieran Bowie, though, to strengthen their side.

Atalanta vs Sassuolo prediction
Atalanta have played a famously aggressive and attacking style of football over the last decade. So-called 'Sarri-ball' is a bit more deliberate and controlled with its emphasis on possession, often to a tedious extent. Sassuolo will believe that, as Sarri himself says, Atalanta may take some time to adjust to the complexity of his style and, on the counter attack, backing the visitors may well be a decent bet for this one with the likes of Domenico Berardi and Armand Lauriente set to be as dangerous as ever.
Atalanta vs Sassuolo tip: Double chance - Sassuolo to win or draw & both teams to score
