Torino preview: The mid-table Torino
Over the summer, Torino have taken an ambitious approach in the managerial market. The hosts have appointed former Italy international and former AC Milan full-back Ignazio Abate, who has previously managed both Ternana and Juve Stabia.
The Piedmont-based outfit have strengthened their defence over the summer with the additions of Pietro Comuzzo, Kian Fitz-Jim and Eray Comery but the reliance on the inconsistent Giovanni Simeone in the final third remains.
AC Milan preview: Amorim's Milan
Former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has taken charge of AC Milan over the summer. The Rossoneri have also made a bold and ambitious signing in the window with the club-record signing of Portugal international striker Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain.
The seven-time European champions once again missed out on the top four and UEFA Champions League qualification once again last season. Massimiliano Allegri's side collapsed towards the end of the campaign, leading to the departure of the now Napoli manager.
Torino team news: Couple of doubts
New signing Eray Comert is a doubt for this opener against AC Milan alongside Duvan Zapata, while goalkeeper Franco Israel is a confirmed absentee.
Predicted XI (3-5-1-1): Paleari; Comuzzo, Ismajli, Saul Coco; Pedersen, Ilic, Anjorin, Biraghi; Vlasic; Adams
Unavailable: Franco Israel (Injured)
Questionable: Comert (Injured), Duvan Zapata (Injured)
AC Milan team news: Amorim's system
A strict manager in terms of players he doesn't like, and there are a few at Milan, and his system, Ruben Amorim will stick by his 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2 system that doesn't necessarily suit the players he has at San Siro.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Maignan; De Winter, Mario Gila, Diawara; Saelemaekers, Modric, Rabiot Diego Moreira; Loftus-Cheek, Chukwueze; Ramos
Unavailable: Tomori (Out of favour), Fofana (Out of favour), Nkunku (Out of favour)
Questionable: Gabbia (Injured), Pulisic (Injured), Leao (Injured), Santiago Gimenez (Injured)
Torino vs AC Milan prediction
At its best, as was displayed with Sporting CP, Amorim's style of football can be quite entertaining to watch for the neutral and on the front foot. At its worst, it is ponderous and disconnected across the park and the switch from a pragmatist in Allegri to an ideologue in Amorim is likely to lead to a slow start as they seek to gel. Torino are not necessarily a team well set up to punish any inertia from the visitors and so a low-scoring contest is to be expected to Stadio Grande Torino.
