It is an extremely competitive race to become Spain’s ‘number one’ this summer. Unai Simon has been the man trusted for a few years and was key as La Roja won UEFA EURO 2024 a couple of years ago but both David Raya and Joan Garcia have since emerged as elite talents in the goalkeeping world. Coming off the back of winning the Golden Glove award with 19 clean sheets in the Premier League, Arsenal’s title-winning ‘keeper is expected to remain the cover for Simon and there is a very good argument he is one of the best back-up goalkeepers in the history of the FIFA World Cup.
