Navajo Stirling vs Ivan Erslan prediction
Rising Australian Navajo Stirling (6-0) puts his 100% record on the line as he returns to action at UFC 315. He comes off a debut win in the UFC last time out as he grabbed a unanimous decision win over George Tokkos last December.
Stirling could not make it five successive knockout wins in that fight and there may very well have been some nerves creeping in on debut but he got the win and extended the impressive start to his professional MMA career.
He meets Croatia’s Ivan Erslan (14-4 with one no contest) who is coming off a narrow split-decision loss at the hands of Ion Cutelaba. The 33-year-old Croat is another banger who has 10 knockouts in his 14 wins and there will be no change to approach here.
That loss last time out was his UFC debut so the rest of his resume has been compiled in regional promotions. He will relish the opportunity to test himself once again here but he has lost three of his last five which is hardly the best preparation for meeting another quality opponent.
We have to favour Stirling coming into this one. The Australian has power but there is more to his game than that and we expect him to get the win by knockout or on the scorecards.
Prediction: Navajo Stirling to win by KO/TKO or decision
