Brad Katona vs Bekzat Almakhan prediction
Brad Katona (16-4) returns to action on the back of a defeat last time out as he suffered a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Jean Matsumoto in October. That was his second loss in his last three fights and he will be eager to get back to winning ways here and rebuild some momentum.
The TUF 31 winner has not found life in the UFC to be so easy as he has gone 2-2 since entering the promotion and this will be another tough test of his credentials in Montreal on Saturday night.
He meets Bekzat Almakhan (11-2) who is coming off a loss on his UFC debut last time out. He saw a unanimous decision go against him in an incredibly tough debut fight against Umar Nurmagomedov last March. He returns to action some 14 months later aiming to get back on track and he will be confident of doing so after winning his eight previous bouts.
This is a fascinating bout but one where we strongly favour Almakhan. We are somewhat surprised by the bookies having this so close in the odds.
Katona is a tough competitor but while he possesses an outstanding work rate, he has limited firepower and has yet to showcase much in the way of submission skills. 10 of his 14 wins have come by decision and that will not be easy to grind one out against Almkahan.
The Kazakh fighter will be more than a match in the wrestling department and he also possesses good knockout power. We expect him to find a route to victory somehow and get the win.
Prediction: Bekzat Almakhan to win
