Mitch Raposo: Scrappy wrestler who never makes it easy for the judges
Mitch Raposo (11-3) has done it the hard way. Turned back on both The Ultimate Fighter and the Contender Series, he finally got a short-notice call-up in 2024. He then dropped split decisions to Andre Lima and Su Mudaerji, both close fights against quality flyweights. He’s bounced back since with wins over Azat Maksum and Allan Nascimento, the latter another split. Raposo is a low-volume outside fighter who doesn’t move around the cage much, and he absorbs more than he lands on the feet. His real weapon is the speed of his takedown early. He uses explosive early shots to create chaotic scrambles, then locks down top position to bank rounds.
Marcos Degli: Carlos Prates’ teammate finally gets his shot
Marcos Degli (15-3) arrives with serious hype behind him, after Carlos Prates personally lobbied Dana White to sign his teammate. The LFA flyweight champion hasn’t lost since 2022, and he stretched his win streak to 13 by submitting Paris Moran with a standing one-armed rear-naked choke on the Contender Series in September. Degli is a patient kickboxer who fights mostly orthodox, switching to southpaw for the body kick and inside low kick. He feints constantly with his hands and level changes and creates angles with good footwork. He can get caught leaning back, though, and takes time to find his reads.
Mitch Raposo vs Marcos Degli prediction
Neither of these men is a high-volume striker, and both are happy to be patient. On the feet, Degli is clearly the better technician. His boxing is sharper, his low kicks and body kicks are better, and he can dip and rip a left hook to the body, though he doesn’t throw those weapons as often as he should. His counters usually take a while to arrive, but Raposo isn’t a skilled enough striker to punish him while he gets his read. Raposo has never shown power at UFC level, and Degli’s chin looks sturdy, so a Raposo knockout is hard to picture.
Raposo’s route is obvious. He’ll shoot early and try to force a scramble. If he comes out of it on top, he can grind out the rest of the round. All four of his UFC fights have gone the distance, three of them by split decision, so a messy decision win is very much in his locker. Degli’s get-up game is the big unknown, because there’s barely any tape of him on his back. Still, he’s a submission threat in transitions, as Moran found out, and a careless shot from Raposo could just as easily hand him a favourable position.
Raposo will make this close if he can, he always does. But Degli has more ways to win, the momentum of a 13-fight streak, and the cleaner skills wherever this fight goes. Lean with the debutant.
Prediction: Marcos Degli to win
