Waldo Cortes-Acosta: Desperate to bounce back after successive defeats

Waldo Cortes-Acosta (17-4) will be desperate to bounce back after back-to-back unanimous decision defeats at the hands of Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes.

This will be his fourth fight of 2026, having stopped Derrick Lewis by TKO in January before those losses to Volkov in May and Blaydes in September.

The 35-year-old from the Dominican Republic is one of the most exciting fighters in the heavyweight division, and he will be eager to get back to producing the kind of Performance of the Night-worthy displays he produced in 2025.

Johnny Walker: Looking to build on a winning heavyweight debut

Johnny Walker (23-10, 1 NC) moved up to heavyweight for his last fight in October, when he knocked out Mick Parkin in the first round at UFC 332.

The 34-year-old has fought most of his career at light heavyweight, but he made the step up after losing three of his previous four bouts.

Walker suffered a string of knockout defeats at light heavyweight, which makes this move up to heavyweight hard to comprehend in some respects.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs Johnny Walker prediction

Walker now comes up against a serious puncher in Cortes-Acosta, who picked up three successive knockout wins before his last two setbacks.

The big former professional boxer has also never been knocked out in his 21 professional MMA bouts.

Walker does possess good power, but he is not a natural heavyweight. Barring Cortes-Acosta coming into this bout out of shape, we think Walker will struggle to handle his power.

There is very little chance this one goes the distance, and our play is on Cortes-Acosta winning by knockout.

Prediction: Waldo Cortes-Acosta to win by KO/TKO
