Tatiana Suarez: Back-to-back wins since title defeat

Tatiana Suarez (12-1) will be aiming to get back into title contention, and she will know she simply has to beat Virna Jandiroba to do so.

After losing her title shot against Zhang Weili at UFC 312 in February 2025, Suarez has won back-to-back fights against Amanda Lemos and Loopy Godinez to keep herself in the mix.

She now meets the opponent she was originally set to face in December 2024, and the pair finally get the chance to battle it out.

Virna Jandiroba: Bounced back from title loss with a dominant win

Virna Jandiroba (23-4) is in a similar position to Suarez, having lost her title shot against Mackenzie Dern at UFC 321 in October 2025, and the 38-year-old Brazilian is now aiming to put herself back in the number one contender spot.

She bounced back from that defeat with a unanimous decision win over Tabatha Ricci in April, and she will now look to get the better of a fellow top-three strawweight.

Tatiana Suarez vs Virna Jandiroba prediction

The co-main event at UFC Fight Night 293 promises to be a hugely entertaining bout between two of the best fighters in the UFC women’s strawweight division. Both are desperate for another title shot, and the winner will surely be in line for one.

It will be fascinating to see who gets the better of the grappling, and that will likely set the tone for the outcome.

Jandiroba is hugely experienced, but it is Suarez who arguably has that little bit more threat in her skill set. She has good submission skills, although Jandiroba’s experience should allow her to counter that and stay out of trouble.

There is so little dividing these two that there is every chance this one goes the distance. We marginally lean towards the younger Suarez to get the win at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night, as she is the fresher of the two, and we think that may just make the difference.

Prediction: Tatiana Suarez to win by decision
