Jose Aldo vs Aiemann Zahabi prediction
Jose Aldo (32-9) is coming off a split decision loss at the hands of Mario Bautista last time out so the Brazilian legend will be desperate to bounce back here.
Hi preparations for the event have been shrouded by a failed weight cut in which he was told be doctors that he could not cut any further despite being several pounds over the bantamweight limit. There were conversations with him and his opponent Zahabi and a compromise was reached to fight at featherweight but it will be interesting to see if that cut will have taken much out of him.
Aldo is nowhere near as dangerous as he was in his prime but he continues to show that he is as determined as ever and capable of causing problems to anybody outside of the top end of the division.
He meet Aiemann Zahabi (12-2) who will relish the opportunity to fight in his home town and Zahabi will have plenty of support in Montreal.
Zahabi has won his last five fights and has showcased his skillset impressively. He possesses good knockout power but what makes him so tough to beat is that he is technically excellent and has good fundamentals.
We like his chances coming into this fight and even more so with Aldo struggling with his weight. Zahabi is the underdog but there is a lot to like about him.
With Aldo not knocking anybody out since February 2019, and Zahabi’s power not quite being as effective as he rises up the division, we expect this one to go the distance and it is that which we favour here just ahead of Zahabi by decision.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
