Louis Jourdain: "The Mad Prince" looks to begin his tenure with a win

Younger brother to fan favorite, Charles Jourdain, Louis Jourdain (9-3) makes his UFC debut riding a four fight win streak, with all of those victories coming inside the distance; Jourdain has only ever been to the scorecards on two occasions. A high output, aggressive kickboxer like his brother, “The Mad Prince” earned a contract on the Contender Series last year with a third round submission victory over Magno Dias. The Canadian also has a solid amount of pro boxing experience to go with his MMA resume, underlining his credentials as an excellent striker.

Timothy Cuamba: Can "Twilight" bounce back from a rough loss last time out?

2-3 in the UFC to date, Timmy Cuamba (10-4) returns after a decisive loss to Benardo Sopaj in his last appearance. A dynamic striker with solid output and power, “Twilight” began his UFC career on a two fight skid against Bolaji Oki and Lucas Almeida. He would then reel off back to back wins over Roberto Romero and Chang Ho Lee, with his victory over Romero coming by way of highlight reel KO, before running into Sopaj last time out to halt his momentum.

Louis Jourdain vs Timothy Cuamba prediction

I’m actually leaning towards Cuamba as a slight underdog here. Benardo Sopaj is one of the better prospects at 135 pounds and I don’t hold it against him too badly for coming up short in that match up. He’s acquitted himself well even when he’s come up short and demonstrated some promising moments in doing so considering that he’s only 27.

Jourdain is undoubtedly fun, but he hasn’t fought or beaten anybody that makes me he’s going to blow “Twilight” out of the water here. He’s extremely durable, but Cuamba is capable of winning a decision if he isn’t able to find a finish. The American has five UFC bouts under his belt, and there’s going to be a lot of pressure on Jourdain making his debut in front of his home crowd.

A finish for “The Mad Prince” decidedly isn’t out of the realms of possibility here, but I’m going to pick Cuamba based on the fact that he is the more well-rounded fighter who has also fought better levels of competition. I believe that he mixes the martial arts better across three rounds to score the slight upset and silence the Canadian crowd.

Prediction: Timothy Cuamba to win by decision
