Marc-Andre Barriault: "Power Bar" aims for another entertaining showcase

A UFC competitor for the better part of a decade, Marc-Andre Barriault (17-11, 1 NC) makes his eighteenth walk to the cage on Saturday night. An all out brawler who bites down on the mouthguard and wings punches until his opponents crumble, the Canadian may be riding a two fight losing streak against Shara Magomedov and Michal Oleksiejczuk, but his entertaining style is underlined by the fact that he earned Fight of the Night on both of those occasions. Prior to that, he scored one of the scariest KOs in UFC history, nuking Bruno Silva with elbows against the cage.

Kyle Daukaus: Does "The D'Arce Knight" get back on track?

Kyle Daukaus (16-4) looked to be riding high to begin his second stint with the UFC, earning back to back finishes against Michel Pereira and Gerald Meerschaert, before getting pulverized by Bo Nickal on the White House lawn last time out. A dangerous grappler with twelve wins by submission, Daukas also has some sneaky power on the feet to present a well-rounded threat. “The D’Arce Knight” looks to have improved since being cut from the promotion in his first stint, a run where he suffered a number of rough stoppage defeats.

Marc-Andre Barriault vs Kyle Daukaus prediction

I think the Bo Nickal result proved that any talk of a new-gen Daukas may have been a little premature. His two wins since returning to the UFC have also aged like milk; Michel Pereira looks like a shadow of himself, and Gerald Meerschaert just retired riding a six fight losing skid with five stoppage losses.

“The D’Arce Knight” is clearly the better grappler in this matchup, but can he get Barriault to the floor and work his game? The Canadian has only ever been submitted once in his entire career, and while his chin isn’t what it used to be, he’s taken two extremely dangerous strikers to a decision in his last two fights.

I’ve witnessed Daukas get outmuscled and finished by bullish, pressure fighters like “Power Bar” before, and while he’s definitely improved since those days, I can envision the same result playing out here. I think that Barriault’s chin is still solid enough to hold up in the early goings, and I can’t say the same for Daukas’ across three rounds with a brawler like the Canadian. I see Barriault getting in the clinch and bombing away for the upset finish here.

Prediction: Marc-Andre Barriault to win by TKO
