Daniel Santos vs Lee Jeong-yeong prediction
After missing a bout a month ago after failing to show up for the weigh-in, Daniel Santos (12-2) is back in action after almost two years since he last fought at UFC on ESPN 46. That is not the first fight that has been cancelled as a fight with Said Nurmagomedov last October was also shelved as Santos was removed from that card also.
He steps up on short notice here and he is under some pressure to perform. He has won his last two fights in the Octagon which came after he lost on his Octagon debut prior to those, but he needs the win to ensure UFC matchmakers do not lose patience with him.
He comes in to face The Korean Tiger, Lee Jeong-yeong (11-2) who needs a win for different reasons. He suffered his first loss last time out as he was pummelled by Hyder Amil at UFC on ESPN 60 last July. That 65-second TKO loss saw his eight-fight winning streak come to an abrupt end.
It is the Korean that is the slight favourite with the bookies coming into this one but that is likely only down to the fact that Santos has been so inactive. In normal circumstances, we would favour Santos as the better fighter but there are so many unknowns around him coming into this fight.
We are not too concerned by the short notice as he has likely been training hard due to his recent cancellation. We are tempted just to lean towards him but our preferred play here is on this fight going the distance. Santos may have a bit of rust, while The Korean Tiger may well go cautious after his quick knockout loss last time out.
Prediction: Fight to go the distance
