Marc-Andre Barriault vs Bruno Silva prediction
Marc-Andre Barriault (16-9 with one no contest) has been in the UFC since 2019 but this will be the first time he gets to fight in his native Quebec on Saturday night. The 35-year-old is coming off a miserable 2024 where he lost all three fights including first-round knockouts in his last two fights.
Barriault is clearly winding down somewhat in his career now and after winning five of his previous seven fights, he is in desperate need of a win to halt this slide if he is to stay relevant in the organisation.
Bruno Silva (23-12) is the man he will face and the Brazilian 35-year-old is in the middle of an even worse slide having lost his last four fights and six of his last seven.
He has fought some quality opponents during that tough run including Alex Pereira, Ismail Naurdiev and Sharabutdin Magomedov and while he has been suffering numerous losses, his last three have all gone to decision.
He remains durable having never been knocked out and he still has good punching power of his own having won 20 of his 23 by knockout. That will unquestionably be his bets route to victory against Barriault who has been knocked out in his last two.
Barriault will have to overcome the emotion of fighting in front of his home fans and handle that but his best chance of victory will be to control the fight on the mat and grind it out. If he gets dragged into a brawl, that will likely not end well for him.
So much depends on how each fighter comes into this fight and how they are psychologically after so many losses. It is also possible that both are considering retirement with another loss and Barriault especially does not look like he has much punch resistance now.
That is our biggest concern coming into this one and that is why we have to favour the Brazilian. He will surely connect at some stage and when he does, we struggle to see how Barriault stands up to it.
Prediction: Bruno Silva to win
