Tommy McMillen: Does "Tommy Gun" fire once again?

A training partner of former bantamweight kingpin, Sean O’Malley, Tommy McMillen (11-0) looks to be a superstar in the making. Tommy “Gun” punched his ticket to the UFC with an impressive showing on the Contender Series, before following it up with dominant TKO victories over Manolo Zecchini and Alberto Montes. Finding himself in the limelight courtesy of his brash, outspoken personality and balls-to-the-wall fighting style, the 28 year old American is a buzzsaw on the feet with ridiculous output numbers. He also has an excellent wrestling base, a daunting prospect considering the danger that he poses on the feet.

Marwan Rahiki: "Freaky" looks to maintain his undefeated record

Earning a UFC contract following a stunning come-from-behind victory on the Contender Series, Marwan Rahiki (9-0) has been perfect across nine fights as a professional. An explosive, powerful kickboxer with a huge arsenal of dynamic techniques, “Freaky” is 2-0 under the UFC banner, forcing a doctor’s stoppage against Harry Hardwick in his debut and flatlining the late notice Ollie Schmid in his most recent appearance. Known for electrifying fights and boasting a 100% finish rate, the Moroccan’s potential looks to be limitless considering that he’s only 24 years old, with many touting him as a prospect to watch in the featherweight ranks.

Tommy McMillen vs Marwan Rahiki prediction

This is such a difficult fight to call. Both of these men look to be elite prospects at 145 pounds; I would not be surprised to see them both as fixtures of the Top 10 for years to come.

Rahiki is arguably the more technical fighter of the two men, but McMillen brings such power and pace that I’m not surprised to see him close as the favorite. He’s got the edge in terms of height and reach and is willing to walk through the fire and eat big shots to land his own at a ridiculous clip, coming roaring back in fights where he gets hurt or dropped in the early goings.

An X-factor also working in McMillen’s favour is that the fact, in addition to being an absolute buzzsaw on the feet, he has a wrestling base that he has yet to call on in his UFC career. The American is an excellent grappler, opening up another avenue to victory if he doesn’t have his way on the feet.

Rahiki is a sniper with nasty counter shots who could well make McMillen pay early if he gets too reckless charging in, but we’re going with “Tommy Gun's” edge in cardio and volume to take this one. “Freaky” will be back, but I think he’s going to start strong and eventually fold under McMillen’s relentless pressure here.

Prediction: Tommy McMillen to win
