Bolaji Oki: Can "The Zulu Warrior" find new lease of life at featherweight?
Dropping down to featherweight following a five fight stint at 155 pounds, Bolaji Oki (10-4) looks to reinvigorate his career in the wake of back to back KO losses to Mason Jones and Manoel Sousa. The Belgian Contender Series graduate debuted with a decision victory over Timmy Cuamba back in 2024, but has just a single win since; Oki has gone 1-3 since that victory, with all of his losses coming inside the distance. At his best, “The Zulu Warrior” is an explosive athlete, with KO power and high output, but he’s been prone to lapses in defence, cardio, and fight IQ throughout his UFC tenure.
Daniel Santos: The Brazilian aims to bounce back from his first stoppage loss
4-2 as a UFC fighter, Daniel Santos (13-3) has been on the roster since 2022. The Brazilian featherweight is the traditional Chute Boxe striker, throwing with high volume and power as he bites down on the mouthguard in the pocket. “Willycat” has scored nasty finishes in two of his UFC wins to date, taking out John Castaneda and Joo Sang Yoo with brutal KOs in addition to decisions over Jeong Yeong Lee and Johnny Munoz Junior. However, he enters this matchup following the first stoppage defeat of his professional career, a second round TKO loss to Doo Ho Choi in May.
Bolaji Oki vs Daniel Santos prediction
I believe this one could well come down to how smoothly Oki takes to his new weight class.
On one hand, if the cut goes well, he could have a significant edge in size, power, and overall physicality over a smaller fighter. Santos is extremely tough and durable, but his loss to Doo Ho Choi last time out proved that he can be put away by a power puncher in a brawl.
However, there’s also the chance that “The Zulu Warrior” could find himself at a significant speed disadvantage, allowing Santos to ping him with rapid fire shots. That could have disastrous consequences if Oki has also completely drained himself to make the weight, particularly given that he’s been stopped brutally in his last two fights.
It’s going to be close, but we’re leaning towards Santos to get things done here. Oki has struggled with fighters who stay in his face and pressure him with a heavy pace and volume, a mold that the Chute Boxe representative fits perfectly. I envision Oki starting strong before gradually wilting under Santos’ onslaught, culminating in a second round TKO finish for the Brazilian.
Prediction: Daniel Santos to win by TKO
