Yana Santos vs Miesha Tate prediction
Yana Santos (15-8 with one no contest) snapped a three-fight skid last time out as she grabbed a unanimous decision win over Chelsea Chandler. That will give her a major lift as she has struggled against some of the better fighters in the women’s bantamweight division.
She now meets the legend that is Miesha Tate (20-9) who continues to fight at the age of 38. It is almost 18 months since she last fought that was her first win since 2021 as she submitted Julia Avila. Prior to that she lost her two previous fights and has lost four of her last six dating back to 2016.
Inactivity is an issue for Tate and it is hard to have too much confidence in her coming into this one given how infrequently she has fought in recent years. This will be just her fifth fight since November 2016 and it will not be easy for her to produce at this age.
Santos has found it tough against the better opponents in the division but she has been competitive and active. We think that gives her the edge and it is somewhat surprising that Tate is the favourite. That is likely just the name being given too much credit and we favour the underdog in this one.
Prediction: Yana Santos to win
