Reinier de Ridder vs Bo Nickal prediction

Reinier de Ridder (19-2) has settled in nicely to life in the UFC as the former ONE middleweight champion has won his first two bouts in the Octagon. He submitted Gerald Meerschaert last November and then stopped Kevin Holland in January UFC 311 with the rear-naked choke.

The Dutch 34-year-old will have shaken off any nerves on entering the UFC with those victories and he now faces Bo Nickal knowing that a win will catapult him further up the division.

Nickal (7-0) mentioned his 100% record last November by picking up a unanimous decision win over Paul Craig. Nickal was able to control that fight against the dangerous Scot and avoid his submission attempts. There is every chance of this fight follows a very similar path to that one.

De Ridder is an elite Judo and Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and he will be looking for submission attempts at every opportunity. Nickal will once again have to be sharp to avoid that threat while controlling the fight.

We can see the two fighters cancelling each other out stylistically here and for that reason, we see this going to the judges’ scorecards. De Ridder especially has the quality to pull off a submission at any moment but Nickal can frustrate him and take it to the final bell.

Our preference between the two fighters is with the underdog Dutchman as we think Nickal is somewhat overrated but our play is on the bout going all 15 minutes.

Prediction: Fight to go the distance
