Yadier Del Valle vs Connor Matthews prediction

‘The Cuban Problem’ Yadier Del Valle (8-0) makes his UFC debut after he earned his shot in the big time thanks to his win over Antonio Monteiro at Dana White’s Contender Series in October.

The Cuban featherweight looks a really well-rounded and strong technical fighter so it will be interesting to see how he fares in the Octagon.

He takes on Connor Matthews (7-3) who also came through Dana White’s Contender Series back in October 2023 but has found life in the UFC to be tough going. He has suffered successive defeats in the Octagon after being TKO’d by Dennis Buzukja and knocked out by Jose Delgado just a couple of months ago in February.

This is a relatively quick turnaround for him which we do not love after successive knockout losses.

The fact he is coming up against a similarly unproven fighter but one who is on a tear with great momentum behind him right now, does not bode well neither.

We have to lean towards Del Valle in this one. Everything points in his favour, it is just the manner of victory which is uncertain given Del Valle’s varied skill set.

Prediction: Yadier Del Valle to win
