Park Hyun-sung vs Carlos Hernandez prediction

Park Hyun-sung (9-0) returns to the Octagon after 18 months out of action as he looks to build on his 100% winning streak. The Korean 29-year-old earned his shot in the UFC via the Road to UFC and has since gone on to win both his fights at UFC Fight Night 218 and 233 respectively.

In both of those bouts which took place in 2023, Park Hyun-sung picked up two more stoppages making it eight successive fights in which he has stopped his opponent by KO/TKO or submission.

He will now put his unbeaten run on the line against 31-year-old American Carlos Hernandez (10-4) who will be raring to go after getting a much-needed win last time out.

After successive losses to Tatsuro Taira and Rei Tsuruya, Hernandez bounced back with a narrow split decision win over Nyamjargal Tumendemberel at UFC Fight Night 248 in November.

That took his record in the UFC back to .500 at 3-3 and he will see this as a good opportunity to win back-to-back matches in the Octagon for the first time.

We would possibly edge the Korean if he had been more active of late but 18 months out could well impact his performance here. He comes up against a solid enough opponent in Hernandez who has good stamina along with submission skills but lacks knockout power.

With that in mind, we can see this being something of a stalemate. Park Hyun-sung has power but it may take him some time to get into rhythm and we favour this one going the distance here.

Prediction: Fight to go the distance
