Viviane Araújo (13-6) has not found it easy of late when she has come up against quality opponents but she is coming off a good and much-needed win over Karine Silva. Before that win last November, she had lost three of her previous four, but she comes into this knowing a win will catapult her back up the rankings.
Tracy Cortez (11-2) is the woman facing her at UFC 317 and she comes off just the second loss of her professional MMA career. She lost a five-rounder to Rose Namajunas by unanimous decision but there were plenty of positives to come from that loss.
Prior to that, she had won 11 fights in a row and against some decent opponents like Jasmine Jasudavicius. Her lack of ability to stop of her opponents is probably the factor which will hold her back from really making it to the top but her energy and work rate is second to none.
That combined with her strong technical ability will likely give her the edge here and we just favour Cortez to get the win but only via decision.
