Rose Namajunas vs Miranda Maverick prediction

Rose Namajunas (13-7) returns to action and the former strawweight champion is looking to get back to winning ways in Atlanta on Saturday. She suffered a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Erin Blanchfield last time out in November which halted the progress she had been making with back-to-back wins in the flyweight division.

She takes on Miranda Maverick (15-5) at UFC on ESPN 69 and this makes for a really interesting fight. Maverick has been on something of a tear in the last two years winning her last four fights and staying incredibly active. She brings great momentum coming into this one and she will know a win here will catapult her into the title picture or at least closer to the top five.

Namajunas certainly has the stronger resume as one would expect but there have been signs of her declining in the last couple of years where she has gone 2-3 in her last five bouts.

Namajunas has struggled against powerful opponents with a strong wrestling base as seen in her last two losses against Manon Fiorot and Erin Blanchfield. That is one of Maverick’s strengths and she will look to win that physical battle.

Namajunas is technically superior but whether she can keep up with Maverick’s relentlessness will be the key to this fight. We like the experience she possesses but we just fear the younger, fresher and more active fighter will overpower her here and win the decision.

Prediction: Miranda Maverick to win by decision
