Lucia Szabova: Oktagon’s first female double champ arrives with a perfect record
Lucia Szabova (12-0) arrives as the first female double champion in Oktagon history. The Slovakian won bantamweight gold by stopping Cecilie Bolander in August 2025, added the flyweight strap with a third-round TKO of Leidiane Fernandes in April, then defended at bantamweight with a five-round decision over UFC veteran Lucie Pudilova. Built on a judo background, she strikes like a traditional Thai fighter, with good distance management, heavy body kicks and slicing knees, all thrown at an exhausting forward pace. Nine of her twelve wins have come inside the distance. The concern is her defensive wrestling – Pudilova took her down early, and dedicated wrestlers can pin her despite an aggressive guard and active scrambles.
Tainara Lisboa: Can the “Thai Panther” halt the losses against a hyped up debutant?
Tainara Lisboa (7-4) started her UFC run 2-0 with wins over Jessica-Rose Clark and Ravena Oliveira. She’s been finished in both outings since, by a second round Americana against Luana Santos and a third round TKO against Melissa Croden. A two-time Muay Thai world champion in Thailand, Lisboa fights from a traditional stance, managing distance with sharp, heavy kicks and precise boxing combinations. She’s dangerous up close too, slicing with elbows and unloading knees in the clinch. She doesn’t chase takedowns, but she can transition and work submissions once it hits the mat. A natural finisher, she’s only needed the judges once in her seven wins.
Lucia Szabova vs Tainara Lisboa prediction
On paper, this is a closely matched stylistic pairing. Both women come from Muay Thai, both are comfortable in the clinch, and both carry a well-rounded finishing threat with a similar spread of knockouts and submissions. The difference is that Szabova has judo on top, and she brings an aggression and X-factor that makes her the exciting prospect in this matchup.
The counterargument is the competition. Szabova’s flair has come against a lower level of opposition. Plenty of hyped prospects have arrived in the UFC only to get fraud checked the moment they face a legitimate test, and Lisboa is a decent one. But while Lisboa has fought better opposition, she hasn’t necessarily beaten it. Her two hardest UFC fights ended in losses to Santos and Croden, and Croden has since been submitted in the first round by Chelsea Chandler, who’s not really elite herself.
Lisboa’s technical kickboxing should keep her competitive early. However, Szabova’s relentless pressure and pace should drag this into the clinch exchanges and scrambles, where her physicality and judo can take over. With Lisboa finished in each of her last two fights, expect the debutant to make it three.
Prediction: Lucia Szabova to win inside the distance
