Stade Rennais haven’t quite had the revolution and turnaround in form they would have wanted since the appointment of Jorge Sampaoli as they sit in the bottom-half ready to take on mid-table but still overachieving Stade Brest side at Roazhon Park.

Rennes Team News: Big money signings

Jorge Sampaoli has been given money to spend during the January transfer window with the arrivals of both Brice Samba and Seko Fofana already this month.

Alidu Seidu suffered an ACL injury in Jorge Sampaoli’s first game, whilst key striker Arnaud Kalimuendo is also now a doubt for this weekend due to concussion.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Samba; Hateboer, Ostigard, Wooh; Assignon, James, Matusiwa, Truffert; Blas, Gouiri; Gronbaek

Unavailable: Seidu (Injured)

Questionable: Kalimuendo (Concussion)

Brest Team News: Injuries at left-back

Brest are dealing with three left-backs being out injured for this one as former Aston Villa man Jordan Amavi, former Newcastle United defender Massadio Haidara and Bradley Locko all out.

They have other defensive injury concerns as centre-back duo Julian Le Cardinal and Soumaila Coulibaly doubtful with former Norwich City midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou potentially sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Ndiaye, Le Guen; Fernandes; Camara, Magnetti; Doumbia; Ajorque, Balde

Unavailable: Locko (Injured), Amavi (Injured), Haidara (Injured), Martin (Injured)

Questionable: Le Cardinal (Injured), Coulibaly (Injured), Lees-Melou (Injured)

Rennes vs Brest Prediction

Stade Rennais will have expected a bit of a bounce after Jorge Sampaoli got to work with his squad during the winter break but they have suffered back-to-back Ligue 1 defeats to kick off 2025. They were then beaten by third-tier Troyes by a goal to nil in midweek in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France. Brest have their focus on creating history by qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever in a few days as they come into this one on the back of back-to-back 2-1 wins in the last week, firstly against Lyon in the league and then Nantes in the cup. This should be quite an entertaining encounter for the neutral in which both teams scoring seems a good bet.

Rennes vs Brest Tip: Both teams to score
