Having got past Petrocub Hincesti in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, they were then beaten by Celje. Egnatia then succumbed to a 3-1 defeat in the first-leg of their UEFA Europa League first qualifying round a couple of weeks ago by hammering Shamrock Rovers by five goals to one in the second-leg in Albania.
Lillestrom are a member of a Norwegian contingent that have excelled in European competition in recent years, headlined by Bodo/Glimt. The visitors for this first-leg in Tirana currently sit fifth in the Norwegian Eliteserien, returning to European competition this season for the first time since the 2022-23 UEFA Europa Conference League.
