Bayern Munich preview: Bouncing back
Bayern Munich head into this one on the back of hammering RB Leipzig by six goals to one at the Allianz Arena at the weekend with a Luiz Diaz hat-trick as well as goals scored by Aleksandar Pavlovic, Michael Olise and Harry Kane.
Vincent Kompany’s side needed to bounce back because they had shared a 3-3 draw with Norwegian champions Viking last week in a game in which they went 2-0 down, 3-2 up and then succumbed to a late equaliser after Olise had been sent off.
Arsenal preview: Grinding it out
Despite suggestions that Mikel Arteta may well evolve Arsenal’s style of football this season, The Gunners have remained a fairly touch watch for the neutral but they are getting results with ten wins and one defeat in ten matches across all competitions.
The North Londoners managed to grind out another victory at the weekend as they defeated Nottingham Forest by a goal to nil at the City Ground, courtesy of an 80th minute winner scored by England international winger Noni Madueke.
Bayern Munich team news: Olise suspended
After a moment of petulance last week, Michael Olise is now missing through suspension for this one. Manuel Neuer is also a doubt for the hosts with Jonas Urbig expected to remain in goal.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Urbig; Laimer, Tah, Kim, Brown; Kimmich, Bischof; Gnabry, Karl, Diaz; Kane
Unavailable: Buchmann (Injured), Musiala (Injured), Olise (Suspended)
Questionable: Neuer (Injured)
Arsenal team news: Madueke likely to come in
Eberechi Eze scored against Lille last week and got himself a start against Forest but he was then taken off at half-time in favour of Noni Madueke, who now looks likely to get the nod on the left-wing with Christos Tzolis still out injured.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Guimaraes; Saka, Odegaard, Madueke; Havertz
Unavailable: Saliba (Injured), Hincapie (Injured), Tzolis (Injured)
Questionable: Kepa (Injured)
Bayern Munich vs Arsenal prediction
Bayern have stuttered away from home this season with that draw against Viking coming after draws against Augsburg and Schalke as well as an unconvincing win against Elversberg in the Bundesliga. At home, though, they have scored 23 goals in just four matches. Arsenal will have to be at their resolute best to limit the hosts but they themselves have not been at their best, as shown by a 3-0 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion a few weeks ago, and so siding with the German champions seems the way to go for this one.
