Parma have lost some of their defensive solidity this season as they now welcome a once again middling Torino side to the Ennio Tardini this weekend.

Parma preview: Not as tight

The sales of Zion Suzuki and Alessandro Circati to Aston Villa and Benfica respectively has undermined the conservative and defensive style of football under the management of former Arsenal assistant coach Carlos Cuesta.

They begin the weekend sitting in the bottom three and the relegation places after being hammered 3-0 by defending champions Internazionale at San Siro last week due to goals scored by Petar Sucic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram.

Torino preview: Much-needed win

Following the appointment of former AC Milan defender Ignazio Abate, Torino started the season slowly but improvement has been shown either side of the extended international break.

That continued last week as they managed to defeat Udinese by two goals to one at Olimpico di Torino with goals from Sporting CP loanee Daniel Braganca and Croatian striker Sandro Kulenovic.

Parma team news: A few issues

Nesta Elphege missed last week’s trip due to illness and he could be involved but there are defensive injuries involving both Lautaro Valenti and Abdoulaye Ndiaye.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Corvi; Del Prato, Diego Carlos, Troilo; Carboni, Keita, Sierro, Fabbian, Valeri; Toure, Romero

Unavailable: Caviglia (Injured), Almqvist (Injured)

Questionable: Valenti (Fitness), Ndiaye (Injured), Elphege (Illness)

Torino team news: Fortini could play

Summer signing Niccolo Fortini is working his way back from a thigh injury but now goalkeeper Franco Israel has been joined on the sidelines by Emirlan Ilkhan.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Perri; Comuzzo, Saul Coco, Rodriguez; Belghali, Mandragora, Braganca, Cacciamani; Oristanio; Giovanni Simeone, Adams

Unavailable: Franco Israel (Injured), Ilkhan (Injured)

Questionable: Fortini (Fitness)

Parma vs Torino prediction

Even in that victory against similarly underperforming Udinese, Torino hardly convinced and there remains concern that they could be seriously drawn into a relegation battle this time around. They do, though, head to a Parma side that already lacked goals but now don’t have the defensive solidity to be effective in terms of results and so siding with the visitors to at least avoid defeat seems a reasonable bet for this one.

Parma vs Torino tip: Double chance – Torino to win or draw
