Auxerre have been much-improved as the season has gone on as they now come up against newly-promoted Le Mans at Stade de l’Abbe Deschamps this weekend.

Auxerre preview: Will Still’s Auxerre

Following the appointment of former Southampton boss Will Still in the summer, Auxerre endured a tough start to the campaign but things have improved with three victories in their last four matches.

The third of those wins came at Stade Oceane against Le Havre last weekend as they won by three goals to one with a brace scored by Danny Loader as well as one from AFC Bournemouth loanee Romain Faivre.

Le Mans preview: Competitive but struggling

Le Mans gained promotion back to Ligue 1 last season and they have been competitive and enterprising at the start of this season but they have managed just one victory in their opening seven matches.

Le Mans now head to Auxerre on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Toulouse at Stade Marie-Marvingt last weekend due to goals scored by Jon Russell-Rowe, Casper Tengstedt and Aron Donnum.

Auxerre team news: Labeau injured

Remy Labeau Lascary has been a key man for Auxerre this weekend but he has picked up an injury and is now sidelined for this one alongside Bryan Okoh and Assane Diousse.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Nardi; Makosso, Tuanzebe, Akpa; Sy, Faivre, Danois, Ahamada, Oppegard; Loader, Archer

Unavailable: Okoh (Injured), Diousse (Injured), Labeau (Injured)

Questionable: Senaya (Fitness), Fofana (Injured), Siwe (Fitness), Mandrengue (Injured)

Le Mans team news: Voyer now injured

Le Mans defender Harold Voyer is now a doubt for Le Mans after picking up a thigh injury with key attacking midfielder Adil Bourabaa now sidelined due to an ankle issue.

Predicted XI (3-1-4-2): Kocik; Sidibe, Yohou, Lauray; Bretelle; Buades, Vercruysse, Traore, Larouci; Mafouta, Gueye

Unavailable: Bourabaa (Injured)

Questionable: Voyer (Injured), Colas (Fitness)

Auxerre vs Le Mans prediction

Under the management of Patrick Videira, Le Mans have been competitive at the start of this season and they look as though that will remain throughout the campaign but they have returned to action with back-to-back defeats since the international break. Despite being much-improved and the favourites with home advantage for this one, Auxerre have not yet been convincing at the back and so that should give Le Mans a chance here.

Auxerre vs Le Mans tip: Auxerre to win & both teams to score
