This one has the feeling of an early season so-called ‘six-pointer’ as two of the bottom four face off at the Luigi Ferraris in Liguria with Genoa taking on Venezia.

Genoa preview: Pressure on De Rossi

At the time of writing, Daniele De Rossi remains in post at Genoa but there is pressure growing on the Roma legend after his Genoa side succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against the aforementioned Romans at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend.

That means that they have collected just four points from their opening seven games of the season in Serie A after the hosts initially propelled themselves up the table after De Rossi’s appointment last year before a shoddy end to the campaign.

Venezia preview: Big win last week

After a fairly big summer of spending following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, Venezia suffered six defeats from six to kick off their campaign but they got themselves a first win of the season last weekend.

At Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo last weekend, the Venetians defeated Napoli by a goal to nil with a winning goal scored by club-record signing Akor Adams, who was the marquee addition in that aforementioned summer of spending.

Genoa team news: A few doubts

Genoa have a few doubts for this one as Switzerland international midfielder Djibril Sow is working his way back to full fitness alongside Elias Havel and Franz-Ethan Meichtry.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Bijlow; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Johan Vasquez; Ellertsson, Frendrup, Wiafe, Puczka; Junior Messias, El Shaarawy; Osmajic

Unavailable: Venturino (Injured), Colombo (Injured)

Questionable: Sow (Fitness), Havel (Fitness), Meichtry (Fitness)

Venezia team news: Defensive doubts

Summer signings Armel Bella-Kotchap and Thierry Correia work their way back to full fitness for Venezia as Gio Busio remains sidelined alongside Bartol Franjic, Andrea Adorante and Marin Sverko.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Stankovic; Halhal, Juan, Matias Moreno; Hainaut, Kike Perez, Sohm, Basic, Haps; John Yeboah, Adams

Unavailable: Sverko (Injured), Franjic (Injured), Busio (Injured), Adorante (Injured)

Questionable: Bella-Kotchap (Injured), Correia (Injured)

Genoa vs Venezia prediction

Venezia’s performances have not been as bad as their results suggested and a victory only appeared to be around the corner but it is a surprise that it came against Napoli last week. Genoa, on the other hand, have instead perhaps been fortunate to get themselves on four points this season and so siding with the visitors may well be a good value bet for this one.

Genoa vs Venezia tip: Double chance – Venezia to win or draw
