Antonia Ruzic vs Alina Charaeva prediction

Antonia Ruzic will hope to end the 2026 season strongly at the Hong Kong Open. She did advance to the quarter-finals in Osaka last month, but her run ended against British number one Katie Boulter. She then suffered a disappointing loss in the first-round of the Guangzhou Open to Claire Liu. Ruzic won the first set but went on to lose 4-6 7-6 (5) 6-4. The 23-year-old has been largely inconsistent in terms of results this season, with her best result being a semi-final appearance in Hobart right at the start of the year. 

She faces Alina Charaeva in the first-round. The 24-year-old has momentum on her side after winning the WTA 125 title in Courmayeur just a few days ago. Charaeva beat Elsa Jacquemot in the semi-finals and then went on to defeat Noma Akgue Noha in the final. She has also advanced to a couple of tour-level quarter-finals.

There is just one place separating the two in the world rankings, and I expect a close match between the pair. Charaeva will look to continue the winning feeling, but it is a quick turnaround.
